Wear what YOU want, Modestly

I started my journey into fashion around the same time I gave my life to Jesus, in London England 10 years ago. Giving my life to Him put a whole world of artistry and creativity in my spirit.

I grew up in a very strict cultural Italian family where I could only wear certain clothing, and unfortunately my mother had a-lot to say about what i wore; she always bought me things to wear that weren't ME, and in consequence I still struggle a little today to find my freedom of expression through my fashion taste, clothing that matches my true identity, who I am in Jesus, and my individuality because it wasn't exactly encouraged for me growing up. BUT, the good news is it's NEVER TOO LATE to find out who we are and one of those ways I believe is expressing what we have within our souls and spirits on our backs! (with clothing). I find it fascinating that you can literally find outfits on outfits that bring out pure joy in you and a confidence that you never even knew you had.

So, growing up in an environment where it was next to impossible to make my own decisions and decide what I want for myself lead me to the person i am becoming today; a BOLD woman who is NOT AFRAID to show her true colours. I'm done hiding in the closet who i really am for fear of acceptance from my family and others. SO THIS BLOG is all about boldness and fierce actions we can take to define and show who we really are first to ourselves, to GOD, and to the world.

I am who I am
I am who I am

EMBRACING THE VALUE OF MODESTY

One thing I learned during my walk with Jesus is how important it is to not only wear what YOU WANT that expresses your individuality but to also do that with MODESTY.

Modesty Definition:

Modesty, sometimes known as demureness, is a mode of dress and deportment which intends to avoid the encouraging of sexual attraction in others. The word modesty comes from the Latin word modestus which means 'keeping within measure'.

Another definition of modesty:

behavior, manner, or appearance intended to avoid impropriety or indecency.

Modesty is SO important as a woman because wearing the wrong types of clothes can send the wrong signals to people especially to men that give us the wrong kind of attention and essentially attract the wrong type of people in our life that can essentially hurt us and our well-being!

Studies showed that dressing modestly also allows our inn-most beings to connect with others on deeper and meaningful levels.

It's also important to note that I understand how difficult it is to dress modestly in todays generation with Social Media Platforms of woman of all ages and kinds posting provocative photos in effort to gain more likes and external validation; what I am trying to express here, based on biblical principles, God desires us to dress modestly and not seek our validation from EXTERNAL SOURCES and dressing modestly helps the validation come from within.

What I'm professing here in this blog is to GO FOR IT when it comes to finding clothing that makes you smile within and that helps boost your confidence -- explore, shop, try on many things, and take your time to find and wear whatever the heck YOU WANT without approval from others or your own inner critic, or (could be parental critics in my head like it was for me) or anyone's voice for that matter other than our GOD ABOVE, whose voice is the only one that really matters, anyways.

People will always have something to say about what you're doing, who you're dating, what you're WEARING, what career you choose, etc... ESPECIALLY family!! This blog post is meant to help inspire to break the cycle

of listening to others on what we should be putting on OUR OWN BACKS and just start choosing clothing (modestly, of course) that can begin to express who you truly are, WITHIN. Dress from the INSIDE OUT.

I started doing this recently, well, for 10 years i have been on a journey to find clothing that best matches me but recently I got rid of ALL my old clothing because let's face it, WE CHANGE WHO WE ARE over time and i have changed IMMENSELY to who i was 10 years ago because God works on the inside of us constantly changing us into His image and likeness :)

I changed, so my wardrobe changed, which is absolutely fine if you are in that changing phase too! I advise to sell as much as you can and give away the rest.

Start Fresh, Start Clean, Start Modestly. :)
